"For us, producing Valderivero means the compromise of being able to capture the essence that nature gives us here, with the greatest respect for it, in the heart of a land bathed by the Duero River, and being faithful to this challenge to the trajectory of the family and our group", Jesús Rivero, fourth family generation.

Valderivero represents the history of a historical family of wine, committed to quality and excellence since its origins in La Rioja, in 1899, where they were forerunners with their DOCa Rioja wines from their first winery.

Over the years, and with the fourth family generation, they started a long journey to explore different wine varieties, which has allowed them to discover the great potential and influence of other regions for their wines.

After years of silent search in the Ribera de Duero region to find the conditions that would respond to the family's philosophy, Valderivero represents that compromise to enclose in a bottle all the essence and character of a region bathed by the Duero.

(Heart of the Duero)

As a result of a very exhaustive analysis over the years, the Roa region was chosen due to the quality of its soil, its complexity, the contrasts within the vineyard, the average altitude of 800m and the character of its climate.

Valderivero includes almost 100 hectares of vineyards distributed between Burgos and Valladolid in different privileged plots, classified by their land and height, to obtain wines with different aging from the red variety of the country: the tempranillo.

In addition, in Valderivero a careful elaboration has been guaranteed, gathering the best oenological advances, in a project that is framed in Nava de Roa and supposes the maximum respect to a wine territory as it is Ribera del Duero.

The lower areas are located between 700-800m, closer to the Duero River, and offer sandy loam soils with pebbles, gravel or stone soils that help with aeration and drainage and keep the heat accumulated by the daytime sun at night.

The result is brilliant, fresh and very easy to drink wines.

At a higher altitude, between 800-830m, and further away from the Duero River, there are plots of sandy-loam soil with limestone and clay content. These soils retain very good nutrients and water.

The result is wines with volume, tannins, with high fruit concentration and very elegant.

For wines that are to be aged longer, we select the vineyards located at a higher altitude, between 830-950m, where the soils are stony and have a high limestone content. The low water retention and the extreme atmospheric conditions to which these plots are subjected provide the conditions for obtaining full-bodied, quality wines that are very good for ageing.

Aromatic, complex and with good alcohol content.
